Brighton High School is starting its first-ever trampoline club. The club’s sponsor is Mrs. Petit, but Kingston Goble, the club’s president, will run it. The Trampoline Club will have its first jump on Tuesday, November 19, but starting in December, jumps will take place on Mondays from three to four pm at the Legacy Center.
To participate in jumps, students must sign a Legacy waiver form and get it signed by their parents. Each jump can have 10 to 12 kids, and it’s first come, first served. The sign-up sheet for jumps can be found with Mrs. Petit in the main office. Comfy clothes and socks with grips are the recommended attire to wear to jumps.
Goble said, “The first jump will be about rules and safety, but the ones after that will be more about open jump and technique.”
While Goble is the club’s president, he will be helped by Jake Vedder and other instructors, each bringing their own unique set of skills. Vedder, who ranks second in the world for snowboarding and will be competing in the next Olympics, will focus on teaching flipping.
Goble has been jumping with Legacy for over three years.
He said, “I started by doing snowboarding, and Jake Vedder, who is accompanying me at Legacy, he taught me how to snowboard and taught me my first flips on snowboard. Then, I got inspired by snowboarding to do trampoline.”
Goble said that Trampoline Club is for all skill levels.
According to Goble, he “started the Trampoline Club so other people can experience the things [he has] experienced. You can get connected with other people and just have fun.”
