In the spirit of Thanksgiving camaraderie, the Brighton High School choir classes came together to host a “Friendsgiving.” The president of the Choir Council, Sofia Pallares, and a few other representatives came together to present this idea. Students convened at 6:00 pm on Friday, November 22, to share food and holiday joy.
At these events, it usually ranges from anywhere between 10-40 people. There are two choir classes at BHS, having around 40 students in each class. The Chicapella, Da Capo, Chamber Choir and Notorious acapella groups were also invited to the event.
“There’s a variety of side dishes, appetizers, drinks and desserts, depending on what people bring,” Pallares said. “Each year, at least since I’ve been throwing/attending, there’s always been card games, board games and karaoke!”
At the gathering, students were able to connect with each other and get out of their shell a little bit more thanks to the positive atmosphere.
“Friendsgiving in general is a great way for teens to recognize how thankful they are for their peers. It brings people closer together and makes great memories,” Pallares said. “In the choir’s case, people both recognize how thankful they are for those around them and get the opportunity to make new friends as well.”
