On Friday, December 13, the Brighton High School choirs held their annual holiday concert, featuring both the sixth-grade choir from Maltby and choir alumni per tradition. The concert displayed features ranging from duets to quartets to BHS’s acapella groups. The choirs sang a variety of holiday tunes and classic winter comforts.
As the BHS choir director, Mr. Johnson, said, “ The highlight was the combined BHS Choirs and alumni singing ‘All is Well’; chills were felt throughout the concert hall.”
The combined choirs of BHS and Maltby sang the classic, “Carol of the Bells,” while BHS choirs sang “Hallelujah” and “Ava Maria.” Alongside, the Maltby choirs sang “Winter Lullaby” and “Snow Day, Snow Day.” The BHS choirs and alumni wrapped up the concert with their traditional “All is Well.”
In regards to the Maltby and BHS combined choirs, Bella Voce member Emory Srock said, “It was a lot of fun…It’s adorable to see how excited they are about singing with the high school.”
It was also a major night for the acapella groups. Chicapella, Da Capo and Notorious, the three groups at BHS, kept the holiday spirit alive when they collectively sang “White Winter Hymnal.” Individually, they strayed from the holiday theme and sang songs by artists such as Billie Eilish and Florence and the Machine.
“The concert went very well; the acapella groups were really on top…It was really stressful but really rewarding,” said Da Capo soloist Faith Tisdale.
