On March 8, 2025, the TechnoDogs robotics team competed in one of their final matches of the season.
A competition in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, on March 8, 2025, marked one of the Brighton High School TechnoDogs’ final competitions of the season.
The TechnoDogs ranked 236 in the state during this match with Alliances. Within the eight alliances, the team was second pick for Alliance 4, won the team’s first playoff match against Alliance 5, and then lost the next match against Alliance 1.
Though the team hasn’t yet qualified for states, many team members were still proud of their performance at the competition.
“During playoff matches, we really shined defensively with our driving and really shocked and impressed our competition,” Business Captain Meagan Gellerman said.

Team member Liam Wheeler said, “We managed to play some really good defense and would have made semifinals if another team we were working with didn’t throw the match. Other than that, we did really well with defense.”
The robotics team is composed of a variety of members who specialize in a different sectors, from physically building the robot to controlling it at competitions.
In an interview with Tom Larson about his part in the competition, Larson said, “My part was scouting the competition; I was helping look out for other teams in case we were on high ranks, so we can pick an Alliance. I also helped with the human player.”
Both Larson and Wheeler were asked what robotics meant to them.
“Robotics is learning engineering and everything about it and having a lot of fun with friends,” Wheeler said.
Wheeler said, “Robotics is really fun if you don’t mind work and want to learn. It’s not just a few hours to hang with your friends, it’s to learn, so if you enjoy learning, it’s great.”
