As the air cools and the leaves turn to shades of yellow and crimson, students across the school are soaking up all the cozy vibes that fall has to offer, from steaming mugs of matcha to mornings at the cider mill.
For seniors Loren Deslierres and Mason Grove, fall isn’t complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch.
“I like going through pumpkin patches while drinking matcha,” Deslierres said, while Grove prefers “going to cider mills and playing in the corn.”
For both, it’s the scenery that really sets the mood.
“The colors and the leaves on the trees instantly make it feel like fall,” Deslierres said.
When it comes to fall fashion, the two couldn’t be more classic.
“Probably a white T-shirt with a flannel, some joggers or cargo pants, and Nike Blazers,” Grove said in reference to his autumn wardrobe.
Deslierres opts for “a leather jacket and a scarf with a nice pair of jeans.”
And as for movie nights? Both agreed on spooky picks. “Scream” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas” are their must-watch seasonal staples.
Senior Owen Burke takes a more rustic approach to autumn. For him, fall means mornings with coffee and weekends outdoors.
“I like just a hot cup of coffee in the morning,” he said. “If I was at Starbucks, I’d probably get a pumpkin spice cold brew.”
When it comes to fall activities, Burke looks to the outdoors for solace.
“I really like to hunt,” Burke said. “In the fall, it’s really peaceful for me. I usually go behind my house or down to some property in Indiana.”
The moment he knows fall has arrived is unmistakable: “Probably the cold weather. When we get our first frost, that’s when I know it’s finally turning over from summer to fall.”
Burke described his perfect fall day as “60 degrees, sunny, a little bit breezy. All the windows open, my mom cooking dinner, pumpkin spice candles through the house.”
As for his go-to outfit, it’s all about comfort: “A flannel long sleeve with a hoodie underneath, some jeans and clogs.”
The sense of coziness extends beyond just seasonal coffee orders and the cooler weather, though; Burke also enjoys the opportunity to connect with his family.
“I like the football games, hunting and just that at-home feeling right before Christmas,” Burke said. “It’s the best time of the year to get everything in and spend time with your family.”
Whether it’s sipping matcha, wandering through pumpkin patches or enjoying a cozy evening at home, each student finds their own way to celebrate the season of fall!
