The JV Black soccer team finished their season with a record of 5-9-2, and the JV Orange team with a record of 2-8-1. The numbers, however, only tell part of the story; they don’t tell how hard the teams have worked or how competitive they were.
“We battled with the same intensity and heart from game one to game 18,” JV coach Colin Adam said. “That says a lot about the character of this team.”
Some key victories this year include a 7-0 win against Salem High School from the JV Orange team. Another decisive win came from the JV Black team with their 8-0 win against John Glenn High School and a 6-1 win against Churchill High School.
No season of sports is without its challenges, and the JV boys soccer teams encountered their share of them.
“Every game was a challenge. We play a tough schedule, and with a small roster, we had to be creative in order to compete,” Adam said.
Northville has been a tough competitor for the JV team this year, with the first time they played the team resulting in a 5-0 loss. The second time the JV team played was different.
“We played Northville twice, the best team we played. First time, we lost 5-0. The second time we played them, we tied 1-1,” Adam said. “Everyone in that second game played amazing and executed the game plan.“
Overall, the season for both JV boys soccer teams was hard-fought and took a lot of effort from all involved, but the end of the season isn’t the end of JV boys soccer. Adam, being closer to the team than anyone else, put it best.
“This team grew a lot as soccer players and as human beings,” Adam said. “Their ability on the ball became quicker and more accurate throughout the season, and they were able to deal with adversity in any form that came their way.”
